Where do the Islanders go from here?

Trading for Jordan Eberle was just the start, right?  Islander fans know that acquiring him cannot be the only addition to the roster before October.  In typical #IslesTwitter fashion, the meltdowns are never ending, fans desperate for any breaking news.  Truth of the matter is, the date only says 6/27/17, there is time.  Relax!

We all "assumed" that trading Travis Hamonic (and more) would bring in return a number two center, well that obviously didn't happen.  Garth Snow acquiring a first round pick and 2 second round picks just adds ammo for a future deal.  With the disaster happening in Colorado right now, where else can the Islanders find a number two center to play down the middle behind Tavares?

The trade market after Duchene is very thin and basically not existent.  I have trouble even finding any other options that could become a reality.  Reports are coming out that free agent Joe Thornton is looking for a three year deal, not a chance the Islanders will be offering that.  A 1 year deal makes a lot of sense but big Joe will more than likely have better options.

The rest of the free agent class of centers are all bottom 6 players in my opinion.  There is not one ideal fit on the open market when July 1st strikes.  Truth is, the only ideal match is Matt Duchene.  He fits our needs and this team to perfection but we all KNOW that already.

So Garth.... wait it out and land your man.  Make this summer a success and make your captains decision a lot easier.  To Isles nation, Snow will need to be patient, just something everyone wants to hear! (lol) Duchene will be traded this summer, just hope he's wearing the blue and orange.
